by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.

It is equally as important to prepare and set up a good canvas prior to the application of one’s makeup as it is to develop a good skin care routine. The mistake many beginners make is skipping a very important step due to maybe lack of knowledge or maybe using the excuse that “they don’t wear much makeup anyways”. Tip #3: Always apply a primer prior to the application of foundation or powders. Regardless of your skin type, primers are crucial in order to prevent the clogging of one’s pores. While with the proper skin care techniques and exfoliation — the pore situation can be fixed, the application of the foundation will not appear flawless nor smooth but rather cake-e and cause it to crease. Tip #4: Aim towards developing the habit of moisturizing especially if you have dry skin and considering it if you have oily skin. The application of setting sprays and powders may cause the drying of the skin which can prevent that silky, dewy look after a few hours wearing it.
Lately, I have incorporated a completely new method of preparing my skin for foundation. This technique is something completely different from what I’m used to, but it is very fun and hopefully you’ll give it a go. This technique involves using product completely of your choice and one’s you’re already comfortable using. The first step is to apply moisturizer and let it sit for 60 seconds, personally I use the Cetaphil brand. If you have dry skin it is recommended you use a good amount of it. Next, you should go in with the translucent powder of your choice, but I use Airspun. After lightly applying the power, set it with some setting spray, I use Too Faced, and let the dry before moving on to next step. Lastly, apply the primer of your choice before applying your foundation. The primer I use in the last step is the one displayed above.
